Koolhoven 'Heidevogel', 1911

Frederick Koolhoven flying his 'Heidevogel' (Heather Bird) at a show of the Maatschappij voor Luchtvaart (Aviation Company) in the year 1911, This aeroplane, a copy of the Farman biplane with some adjustments to the construction and a gondola for its passengers, was Frederick Koolhoven's first construction. Other pioneers flying at the show were Marcel Hanriot, Clément van Maasdijk, Jan Olieslagers, Henri Wijnmalen and Jan Hilgers.


Koolhoven factory 1936-1940

A collection of movie clips (in two parts) made by Koolhoven employee Hans Maas, in the days the Koolhoven company was at its top. It shows the visit by HRH Prince Bernhard and a number of test or demonstration flights of the Koolhoven F.K.56 military advanced trainer, F.K.58 fighter prototypes and the F.K.49A float plane. Also shortly to be seen are the Koolhoven F.K.51 military trainer, F.K.57 executive plane, Fokker F.VIII PH-OTO photography aircraft and Douglas DC-3.
Hans Maas died in WWII as a member of the Dutch resistance.

8/8 movie from the legacy of Rotterdam entrepeneur and amateur film maker W.F. Heniger. The movie shows W.F. Heniger, his wife and a friend taking an introductory flight lesson in PH-FKB, probably in the year 1934.
